The main Custom Scenario map of the Saints is Mini CB. There are several versions out, but it can be narrowed down to three types; Mini Classic, Mini Store, and Excal.
Mini Classic:
The beginning of Mini CB. A very simple map, based on CBF, but made smaller with less pop and a Genghis Khan(known as the hero) that powers up with time. The earliest versions that are recorded are the Mini CB USS style. Someone may have made a version before this, but Mini CB USS was the first MCB to become popular. It is the same as the Mini Classic's of today, except the heroes were named after the USS clan. The basic structure has 2 castles with monks behind castle, a normal sab at 75 kills, super sab at 125 kills, monkey at 300 kills, and a 1500hp villager at 500 and 2000hp villager 600 kills. Villies can't build TC's, towers, or siege workshops.
Later on Mini CB Ghosted was developed, where it made changes like the middle castle at 600 kills. Now maps are called Mini Classic in honor of the original styled maps like the one made by USS. The newest classic version is Mini Classic Optimus, made by Mad_Bombardier and Chingy, two great classic players.
Mini Excal:
A MCB with its goals being faster games and more civ balancing since classic was known to take a long time and bad civs had no chance. Excal III was the first of the Excal maps to get recognition. Excal V is often regarded as the map that made the series popular. Excal VIII is the latest map and supposedly the last of the Excal series. Excal promotes early fighting with buildings in the middle and also promotes rushing castles since kills are rewarded with units that make killing castles easier. It also has a monk that can travel on its own path pretty far, making it easy for good civs to get converts. Some problems with Excal may include the fact that range civs get kills easily and can rush easily using the special units given for kills. Another problem is that it has many pitfalls for new players to the map, and this causes the veteran players to get upset and it scares new players from playing the map again. Also there is evidence showing that this maps roots come from an edit of some early form of Mini CB so it is not an original creation.
Kings Conquest is a map that was made in style of excal except KC has no water between castles and is good for ffa and 1v1's, its latest version is King Conquest III and looks cool on its desert terrain.
King Warz is a excal-like map but is made solely for 2v2v2v2, or 2v2v2 or 2v2 games, since the teammates share castles in each others base to promote more teamwork. All Excal maps and their counterparts are made by King_Arthur_111, leader and founder of the Kings Clan and very active on Gamepark and can be found in the CS rated room.
Mini CB store:
Some people thought that classic was boring, and instead of going the excal path like the Kings did, they made a store on the side of the map.A newly discovered fact is that it was made from Excalibur III. It has lots of odd things only arthur would put it like a ROYALTY trigger, and an unused QUEEN'S ESCORT trigger. Also there is a really strange shallow spot near the yellow islands. This was a mistake made by arthur on Excal II and III. So it is very obvious that Store was an edit of Excal III. There is no reason for Store to have a ROYALTY trigger or a Queen's trigger, so Store must be a copy of EXCAL II or III.
On this edited Excal map you get a king every 100 kills and for 3 and 6 razes which can be used to buy more attack or hp for all your units, hp for castles, or some kind of hero like a martel with boosted stats. A map that is very popular, perhaps most popular of the MCB maps, yet hated by many since lots of MCB players believe that the attack and hp boosts make fast shooting civs like mongols impossible to beat. Mongols can rush castles easily when they get these stats and they also get kills really quickly since they are the fastest shooting civ. This map was an edited version of Excal and was edited by TW_DaRrEn who hasn't been seen in quite a while and it would seem he quit playing AOE. Other versions of store include MCB Legends, MCB Saint Seiya, and MCB Store Turbo.
MCB Legends was earliest of the mini store remakes. It included several new store additions like tons of special units, giving kings to allies, and one area where someone can send 8 kings and just automatically kill someone. Some say there were too many store items and that Mini Store was better. People still play this map though. MCB Legends was an edit of Mini CB Store done by Dark_Ages, who still plays sometimes on IGZ.
MCB Saint_Seiya was a edited version done by Saint_Seiya, who is not associated with the Saints, but is a player who still plays on Gamepark in rated and non-rated. His map is most like MCB Store, and added heroes for start, and a few more store items, but not as many as MCB Legends. Still a used map that was made after Legends. Saint_Seiya seems to think that Excal was a map copied from his, but he doesn't realize that Excalibur was made 4 years before his map and the original store copied it.
MCB Store Turbo, is basically Mini Store, but each civ gets 5 respawning normal stat heroes based on their civ. Some say that the heroes picked are unfair. Viks get 5 Haralds which make it too easy to get imp. This map was made by eeZee, who after making the map, joined the Saints for a short period although he didn't participate much. eeZee still plays, but his map never became popular.
Crusades of Mini CB, is a map done by myself Saint_Fork. One of my first map making projects, the terrain was done mostly by my friend Saint_Hunter, but I did all of the triggers. It was my attempt at making the most fair Mini CB map. It has kill rewards similar to Excal, but a store as well. The store however doesn't have power ups, just heroes in it, as I felt power ups gave advantages to the stronger civs. It also had other unique ideas, like a kill counter that shows every kill. The main flaw that keeps this map from being a huge success is the huge size of the map. I have been lazy and haven't taken the time to shrink the map. Just recently I came up with a new idea to fix the map. I turned it into "CB Crusades Store." I just finally released it today 11/21/07. It has the same terrain except bigger bases with 5 castles to start. It also has more buildings enabled like siege workshops to make it more like CB. We can only wait and see how popular the map can become.
